(India Only)Auto-debit payments failing on company’s saved card

To bolster the safety and security of card transactions, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) mandated new auto-debit rules kick in from October 1, 2021. RBI’s directive states that there will be no automatic recurring payment for various services as the additional factor of authentication (AFA) will become mandatory from today. RBI’s new rules on auto-debit transactions prevent merchants from automatically charging customers’ credit and debit cards for their services.

Due to these restrictions in place, ITILITE would not be able to process auto-debit transactions for Indian clients of our Expense product. Clients can still make payments on the platform by navigating to the ‘Billing & Subscription’ tab and clicking on ‘Pay Due Amount’.

Here’s a link to the original notification from RBI.
