ITILITE European Rail Booking: Integrated Train Travel & Expense Tracking

Sixty percent of business travel in Europe happens by train - not flights, not cars, trains. For any client with entities in Europe, rail isn't a nice-to-have; it's the default mode of travel. ITILITE didn't have it.
- No rail inventory on the platform at all: Flights, hotels, cars - all covered. Trains weren't.
- Every rail booking meant going around the platform: Users had to reach out to SRC directly to get train options and get booked, breaking the self-serve flow that every other travel mode already had.
- No trip-level visibility: Rail bookings made this way lived outside the normal trip record, making it harder to track spend, MIS, and reporting the way flight and hotel bookings already were.
What ITILITE Built
ITILITE partnered with Distribusion, a white-label rail platform, to bring train booking into the platform for European clients.
- User clicks Train on the ITILITE search page, same as they would for a flight or hotel
- They're routed to Distribusion's white-label booking experience to select and complete the train booking
- Distribusion sends an instant booking confirmation directly to the traveler
- A booking alert with the trip ID is sent to SRC, so the trip's MIS entry gets completed against the same record as the rest of the itinerary
- The user's or client's card is charged for the booking amount, same as any other travel mode
It's a client-level rollout - TechSpoc enables it per client, and it's live on both web and mobile once switched on.
Part of a Bigger Shift Toward Full Multi-Modal Coverage
Rail is the mode ITILITE was missing. Flights, hotels, car rentals, and in India, buses were already fully supported and trackable inside a single trip record. This closes that gap for European entities specifically, so a trip with a flight into Paris and a train onward to Brussels now lives under one trip ID instead of splitting across the platform and an offline SRC request.
Who Should Care About This
- Companies with European entities or frequent European travel, where rail is often the primary mode, not a fallback
- Travel managers currently routing every train request to SRC manually
- Finance teams who need rail spend inside the same trip-level reporting as flights and hotels
- Clients not yet enabled - this is a client-level configuration, so reach out to your CSM to turn it on
Where This Goes
Rail closes the last major gap in mode coverage for Europe. The next step is tightening the experience so a train leg feels as native to the trip as a flight leg does, less handoff to a separate portal, more of it living inside the same itinerary view travelers already use for everything else.
